P2PWG Accelerates P2P Innovation By Sharing Best Practices at O'Reilly Peer-to-Peer and Web Services Conference, Washington, D.C., November 5-8, 2001: Learn What 50 Leading P2PWG Companies Already Know About the Advancement of P2P Applications and Services

SANTA CLARA, CA — The Peer-to-Peer Working Group (P2PWG), created for the advancement and interoperability of peer-to-peer computing, announced today that they will be sponsoring a "Birds of a Feather" (BOF) meeting on Monday, November 5th, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at the second O'Reilly Peer-to-Peer and Web Services Conference held in Washington, D.C. The BOF meeting will take place in the Washington Ballroom of The Westin Grand hotel. Admission is free and open to the public.

"The O'Reilly Peer-to-Peer and Web Services Conference is the premier event for those wanting to learn more about the advancement of P2P," stated Brian Morrow, Chairman of the Peer-to-Peer Working Group. "We're excited and honored to have representatives of the P2PWG involved as speakers, exhibitors and sponsors at this important event." P2PWG member companies scheduled to speak across the 4-day event include: 3Path, Avaki Corporation, Blue Falcon Networks, CenterSpan Communications, Endeavors Technology, Entropia, Groove Networks, Hewlett-Packard Company, OpenCola, O'Reilly & Associates, Uprizer and XDegrees. P2PWG members exhibiting at the conference include: Endeavors Technology, New Productivity Initiative, NextPage, Texar Corporation and Thinkstream.

The P2PWG BOF will highlight on-going efforts in peer-to-peer computing centered security, NAT/firewalls, and P2P file services. Participants in the BOF are invited to join us in addressing questions around interoperability, security, performance, management and privacy.

The next Peer-to-Peer Working Group (P2PWG) meeting will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2001 from 10am to 5pm, at the Santa Clara Marriott in Santa Clara, California. The meeting is free and open to the public. The highlights include technical break-out sessions on Security, NAT/Firewalls, File Services, Glossary /Taxonomy and updates from various committee chairmen. P2PWG member registration applications and member volunteers for a new subgroup focused on interoperability will be accepted at this meeting.
